A giant basin pocketed with holes, all leading to a giant underground network of mazes, dead ends, death pits, flooded tunnels. Rivers networking through the tunnels and bubbling up at the top to create large waterfalls careening down into the basin into small pockets, like rather small lakes then into rivers ending in one large lake. The large lake was so deep that it was almost black in colouration, running off into underground tunnels. Actually no one really knew were the water came from at the top of the basin, only that no one could reach the top.
